Nicole Ari Parker has worked on film, television and also on stage. She was best known for her role as Teri (the spirited attorney) Joseph. After her wedding the actress is now known for her role as Nikki Kodjoe. As a child within Baltimore, Maryland, she was always fascinated by acting. Contractor, born from Mumbai in India and grew up in Nigeria from the time she was seven. She'd been exposed to a lot of travel and other cultures since a early age. She was a boarding student in London between the ages of seven and nine, after which her family relocated to Toronto, Canada, where she lived for the bulk of her early childhood and adulthood. Contractor was an outstanding student in Toronto and was trained to be the classical ballet dancer. She attended an Etobicoke School of the Arts an specialized arts public high school in which she not only danced but studied theater as well. Contractor took the decision to study acting seriously at age 16 after almost 10 year of dance. She accepted a full-scholarship to attend the University of Toronto after graduating. She earned a master's degree in theatre as well as a double major in psychology and social science. Contractor, who had spent a year in university and auditioned during an open call for Pericles which was held at the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canada] and won the part. Her performance received rave reviews. her performances in the 92 shows performed the play was voted"the best show of 2002" by Canadian critics in 2002. She was offered the opportunity to be a part of the Stratford Conservatory. The school is a private institution that accepts just eight men and four woman for a crash course in the art of classical theatre. Contractor was eager to accept. Contractor's place in the following stage season was securing and she won the role in the play as Hermia.
